In 2008, design-builder Freeman Building Systems built a 220,000 warehouse facility for Hinkley Lighting which included a 30,000 square foot second floor for their corporate offices. In 2011, we were engaged by Freeman Builders and Hinkley executives to design the new office space.

With 22’ of clear space to the roof deck, the challenge was to design the space to take advantage of the available height. A “main street” cut through the space as the primary circulation path between departments and was highlighted by the addition of new skylights, bringing day lighting  deep into the interior.

A continuous band of cove lighting surrounding the major architectural elements softly lights the ceiling and upper regions adding a lightness and airiness to the space. A neutral palette with strong color accents created a fresh and lively interior.
